About Us

The Emperor Haile Selassie I Memorial Foundation’s Friends in America (EHSIMFFA) is a non-profit organization that was formally incorporated in the State of Virginia in 2020. The organization was created to support the activities of the Emperor Haile Selassie I Memorial Foundation in Ethiopia (EHSIMF), a Charitable Organization set up to promote the legacy of His Imperial Majesty and to further his aim of bringing education and development to the people of Ethiopia. EHSIMFFA is a not for profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization and all donations are tax deductible. EHSIMFFA is not affiliated with any political movement, party or government. EHSIMFFA raises funds to support the charitable activities of EHSIMF in Ethiopia.

EHSIMF provides support to promising scholars from economically and socially marginalized groups to pursue higher education. Priority is given to women and physically disabled students with high merit. EHSIMF seeks to establish partnerships with local and international organizations to support sponsored students. To date, EHSIMF has supported over 300 undergraduate students and 259 graduate students who are from 20 public universities across the country and are engaged in various fields of study. Currently, 36 university students are doing so with assistance from EHSIMF. Its goal is to support 120 students in the coming academic year.

EHSIMFFA hopes to assist EHSIMF in reaching its current goal as well as expand its student funding from the 20 universities it supports to the 43 universities in all regions of Ethiopia.
